McMillen Jacobs Associates is seeking an experienced Safety Director to join our growing team. This position will be based out of our Boise, Idaho office with 50% travel required to our project sites in the wester region. The Safety Director will be responsible for developing, planning and maintaining the company's safety program for the Water Resources division. Directly reporting to the VP of Construction, the Safety Director must posses the required knowledge, skills and abilities to create and oversee a culture of safety and safe work habits to reduce or eliminate the risk of injury to all McMillen Jacobs Associates employees. Ares of top priority include safety policy management, job site accident prevention, injured worker protocol, safety training, compliance and risk management.

Responsibilities:

  • Builds working relationship with job staff.
  • Establishes and conducts effective worker orientation programs.
  • Provide safety reports to the VP of Construction.
  • Evaluates needs for training and provides as necessary.
  • Administers and conducts the safety program and any initiatives to reduce risk of incidents and cost.
  • Conducts safety audits.
  • Promotes safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all Federal, State, Local regulations and owner / contractual requirements.
  • Build working relationships with OSHA and other regulatory agencies to promote safety and loss prevention.
  • Supervises and provides guidance for the development of Site Safety Officers.
  • Educates and advises project staff on safety guidelines and policies.
  • Utilizes multiple specialty safety skills and knowledge to mitigate risk.
  • Participates in networking, business related events, functions and investigates and reports claim information to VP of Construction and Insurance Companies and Agents.
  • Implements and manages the project safety incentive programs.
  • Manages the safety budget.
  • Participates in key project issues and negotiates business agreements related to safety.
  • Provides direction to project staff in implementing cultural change in safety for the business unit.
