McMillen Jacobs Associates is a full-service environmental, engineering, and construction firm in the water resources, hydropower, fisheries, transportation, and heavy civil underground markets. Our growing organization is currently seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic / Operator for a project in Great Falls, MT. This job begins in April 2021 and is anticipated to continue for 2-3 years. We are a drug-free workplace, and you must consent to a drug test and background check. Following a 30 day assessment period, full-time benefit-eligible employment may be offered. The company expects additional long-term work opportunities in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, California and other states in the western region.

Field Mechanic Duties: As a Field Mechanic, you will have knowledge of construction equipment, a strong mechanical knowledge with various heavy equipment and cranes. You will perform preventative maintenance services, diagnostic tests, troubleshooting and general repairs to our onsite fleet of Excavators, Dozers, Cranes and other heavy civil equipment. You will also be required to keep track of maintenance work performed on vehicles and equipment, perform inspections, work with diagnostics programs, order parts, and comply with all safety procedures. You must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Equipment Operator Duties: As an Equipment Operator on this project your function is to be able to safely operate a front end loader with bucket and or forks, water truck with air brakes and 13 speed transmission, (CDL required) and other equipment if qualified/required. You must have good operational skills to be able to produce high quality work in a safety-conscious work environment. You must also be able to work with foremen and laborers to produce quality work in time-sensitive conditions.

Required Experience, Education, Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • Must have minimum 5+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Pass a drug test and background check.
  • Must have your own tools. (A heavy duty modern service truck, with welder, Genset etc., will be provided)
  • Must have a clean valid driver's license and a CDL.
  • Ability to work weekends if needed.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
