McMillen Jacobs Associates is looking for an Accounting Manager to sit in the Seattle office. The Accounting Manager will work closely with the accounting team and will exercise discretion and independent judgment as a team leader, while working collaboratively to execute department initiatives.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Prepare information used to file international, state, local, and special tax returns for businesses
  • Work with CFO on development of tax strategies
  • Perform technical review tax returns
  • Manage and maintain positive intra-company relationships
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge
  • Act as a mentor to employees within the department and impart relevant knowledge
  • Perform a variety of accounting tasks including, but not limited to, recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, and preparing schedules and reports as needed
  • Assist with month end close process
  • Participates in the recruiting, hiring, training, development, and coaching of Accounting team members.
  • Collaborates in the development and implementation of office policies and accounting procedures, as needed.
  • Conducts a 1st Level Review of financial statements as assigned using a risk-based approach to determine if financial information is reasonable and reliable.
  • Reviews 3rd party audit findings and tax returns for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Performs special projects and research as assigned.
  • Continually seeks to identify innovative strategies for increasing department efficiencies and reducing expenses.
  • Performs the duties of other team members (in their absence), as necessary.
  • Supports and enforces company and accounting policies as well as all applicable international, federal, state and local statutes and regulations.


  • Extensive knowledge of tax law US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of state and local taxes and ability to implement systems to report information correctly
  • An extensive understanding of accounting software and Microsoft Office products. (Deltek Vision and Vantagepoint a huge plus)
  • Through understanding and ability to exercise independent judgment relative to the timeliness, recognition, and classification of transactions in accordance with GAAP.
  • General Ledger experience
  • Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation preferred
  • Multi-currency experience¬†


  • Bachelor's degree in the accounting or equivalent
  • CPA required
  • 5-7+ years recent experience in US and international business taxes, public accounting or relevant experience
  • An analytical background with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Mastery of Excel
  • Inclination to delegate and assign tasks or workload to challenge or stretch individual skills and engage employees fully.
  • Consistently exhibits strong ethics, executive presence, professionalism, and confidence, as well as a positive attitude toward company, department, and team members.
  • Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with ability to recognize problems early and produce prompt resolutions.
  • Ability to prioritize and focus on critical tasks as well as shift focus or multitask when appropriate.
  • Capable of working within a fast-paced, deadline driven environment while generating timely results.
  • Integrity, objectivity, and accountability in performing duties.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to successfully inspire, motivate, empower and lead direct or indirect reports in alignment with the mission, vision, and core values of the company and department.
  • Ability to provide professional support for an assigned team and cultivate value, trust, and positive relations among team and individuals.
